Kate Aldrich, mezzo-soprano, has performed leading roles in theaters throughout the world including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, The Salzburg Festival, the Bavarian Staatsoper Munich, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Gran Theatre de Liceu, Teatro Colon de Buenos Aires, the Hamburg State Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Regio di Torino, L'Arena di Verona, Opera Royal de Wallonie, Washington National Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Opéra National de Paris, Theatre du Capitole Toulouse, l’Opera de Marseille, L'Opera de Montreal, the Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon,  NCPA Beijing, and many more.

Known for her vast repertoire and strong acting abilities, Ms. Aldrich made her professional debut at the Arena di Verona in 2000 in the role of Preziosilla in La Forza del Distino, and since then has performed roles ranging from Nerone in  L'Incoronazione di Poppea (Theatre de Liceu, Oper am Rhein), to Adalgisa in Norma (Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Opera de Montreal, Vancouver Opera) from Eboli in Don Carlo (Opera Royal de Wallonie), Elisabetta in Maria Stuarda (San Diego Opera) and Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Teatro Sao Carlos Lisbon) to Marguerite in La Damnation de Faust (Opera de Lyon, Wiener Symphoniker); from Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito (The Estates Theatre Prague) to Oktavian in Der Rosenkavalier (Opera de Marseille), and from Ascanio in Benvenuto Cellini (The Salzburg Festival), and Charlotte in Werther (Teatro Regio di Torino, Opera de Lyon), to some lesser known operas such as Rossini's Zelmira (Rossini Opera Festival Pesaro),  Mariotte's Salome (Opera de Montpellier),  and Reyer's Salammbo (Opera de Marseille).

Hailed by the San Francisco Sentinel as "the Carmen of this Generation", Ms. Aldrich has performed the title role of Bizet's opera to much critical acclaim in theatres around the world ranging from the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Bavarian State Opera Munich, Semperoper Dresden, Chorégie d’Orange, Deutsche Oper Berlin, New York City Opera, Michigan Opera Theatre Detroit, Opera Maine, Pittsburgh Opera, L'Arena di Verona and at the Zurich Opernhaus, the NCPA Beijing, The New National Theater and the Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo and in Seoul, Korea.

In recent collaborations with the Palazzetto Bru Zane Ms. Aldrich has performed and recorded such rare works as Déjanire (Saint-Saëns), Ariane (Massenet), Le Mage (Massenet), l’Olympie (Spontini), and Semele (Dukas). This winter she will perform and record the role of Margared in Le Roi d’Ys (Lalo) With the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra. Ms Aldrich's interpretation of the role of Ascanio in the production of Benvenuto Cellini at the Salzburg Festival in 2007 can be seen on DVD, as well as the live DVD recording of Norma at the Teatro Communale di Bologna in which she performed one of her most celebrated roles, Adalgisa.  She performed and recorded for DVD the role of Dulcinee in Piero Faggioni’s production of Don Quichotte, Charlotte in Werther opposite Roberto Alagna, the role of Adriano in Wagner’s Rienzi with the Deutschoper Berlin, Leonore in La Favorite with the Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse, and interpreted the role of Amneris in Franco Zeffirelli’s monumental Aida, which was performed on the 200th anniversary of Verdi’s death in his hometown of Busseto, Italy, also available on DVD.  Ms. Aldrich has recorded the Opera Salome by Antoine Marriotte with the Opera de Montpellier on CD, and, having begun her studies in baroque music, she also recorded Handel’s Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno in the role of Il Piacere with Alessandro DeMarchi and the Academia Montis Regalis.  This opera was also performed at the Handel Festival in Halle, Germany, and at the Bologna Festival, both in 2007.

Ms Aldrich has performed such symphonic works as Mahler 3, La Mort de Cléopâtre (Berlioz)and the Wesendoncklieder (Wagner) with the Mozarteum Orchestra,  Requiem di Verdi with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Das Lied von der Erde (Mahler) with the Bologna Symphony and the Philharmonie de Paris, and Eine Florentinische Tragoedie (Zemlinsky) with the San Francisco Symphony both under the direction of James Conlon, and with l'Opera de Montpellier she performed once again Eine Florentinische Tragoedie, as well as Ravel's Sheherazade.  With the Orchestra National de Radio France she has performed Stravinsky's La Pulcinella and Debussy's Le Martyre de Saint Sebastian, both under the baton of Daniele Gatti.  She has performed both the soprano and alto solo parts of La Petite Messe Solenelle, at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, and at the Washington Opera, respectively.

After her work in both Anna Bolena and Mignon with the Opera Orchestra of New York, Ms Aldrich was awarded the Vidda Award, granting her a recital in Weil Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall in the spring of 2006.  She was the recipient of both the prestigious Radok Theatre Prize as best actress on the stage in the Czech Republic in 2006, as well as the Thalie Prize as the best singer in the Czech Republic in 2006 for her performance and interpretation of the role of Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito.  Ms Aldrich was a winner of a Richard Tucker grant in 2006, and a winner of the Operalia Culturarte prize in 2002.
